Question: What new artist are you digging right now?
Answer: I haven't been playing much new music lately, mainly old stuff, although I really dig the new band missFlag.  They've got a great album out called 'To Infinity' with really lovely songwriting on it.  Great stuff!
Question: Who is on your mp3 player/in your CD player right now?
Answer: Jeff Buckley, Kate Bush, Dire Straits (yes, you heard right lol!), Leonard Cohen, Heatwave (lots and lots of Heatwave).  I've been digging Roisin Murphy, she's wicked.  I've got some Timbaland in there, I love his style too.
Question: Artistically what motivates you?
Answer: Being moved.  When the hairs on my arms and the back of my neck stand up at the sound of a beautiful voice or song.  When my heart fills at the beautiful sight.  I don't care much for what's in style or what's currently popular.  I feel motivated and inspired when I'm feeling something.
Question: What artists have influenced you most?
Answer: I would say Rod Temperton, Heatwave and Jeff Buckely for songwriting and singing.  Also Kate Bush, Bob Marley...well, I'm now running of my mp3 player list lol.  There are too many to mention.  Most of the time it only takes one song from an artist to move me and I am influenced by everything that moves me.
Question: What projects are you currently working on?
Answer: I have just completed my album 'Delicate Dragon' which is out in October this year.  I worked with a producer called Gili Wiseburgh.  Gili and I worked in the Dead Sea desert which was amazing.  We worked with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and other world class musicians on my album, which was a real blessing.  Aside from that I've just finished collaborating and singing on three songs with a band called Tuatara, which included members such as Barrett Martin of The Screaming Trees and Peter Buck of R.E.M.  The album is called 'West Of The Moon' and it's out in September this year.
Question: Where did the name of your new album Delicate Dragon originate?
Answer: I wrote a song called Delicate Dragon which ended up being the title of the album.  The lyrics of that song best explain the title, I think.  It's about my emotions within my soul.  The song itself has an interesting story as the bass line was inspired by a song called 'Wake Up' by a band called 'Mad Season'.  Mad Season are not together anymore but were one of my most favorite rock bands of all time.  The singer was Layne Staley of Alice In Chains, the guitarist was Mike McCready of Pearl Jam and the drummer was Barrett Martin of The Screaming Trees.  John Baker Saunders who was on bass and Layne Staley both have passed away since.  I got in touch with Barrett and Mike in the process of getting permission to work with the bassline for Delicate Dragon.  Barrett ended up coming to Israel to record on my album which was fantastic.
Question: I read where you said when you were 3 years old you remembering ‘dreaming’ music. Could you tell us about that? What is that experience like?
Answer: Dreaming music feels like the fabric of my existence lol.  I don't know life without it.  My first dreams that I remember having were indeed at 3 years old.  I dreamed of being a conductor for an orchestra.  I had total recall of the music that the orchestra was playing.  I didn't have any exposure to classical music as a child but there it was in my dreams.  Over the years my dream music has become endlessly eclectic.  I dream in all styles of music, some I love, some I don't love.  I've been writing a book about the experience, which I hope to finish within the year.
Question: What is your opinion on the state of the music industry today?
Answer: It's such an exciting and revolutionary time!  The business model is shifting and I believe it is moving in a better direction for artists, which I feel will bring more diversity on the playing field.  I'm tired of hearing too much generically put together commercial music over and over again and from the feed back I've been getting from many other people, a lot of us are feeling the same way.
Question: What charities, organization and causes have your attention at the moment?
Answer: I am drawn to most charities and organizations that support good causes but the causes that have always been closest to my heart are those to do with the environment.  To have a future for our children, we need an Earth to live in.  We need to respect this planet and we need to teach ourselves and our future generations to do better than those before us.
Question: If you had the attention of the world for two minutes, what would you say?
Answer: Let's try to incorporate new habits into our lives which contribute to the health and preservation of our planet and of our selves .  Follow your true path, follow your heart, feel the fear and do it anyway!
