Grown Folks Music

Ivan Orr(The Love Man) is a musician/social critic whose creative output runs the gamut from provocative to entertaining. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music(Jazz Studies Emphasis) with a minor in African American Studies. A multi-instrumentalist and composer Ivan has worked with acts as diverse as: E.U., Boogie Down Productions, The Average White Band, Dave Matthews Band, Oteil and The Peacemakers, Cameo and The P-Funk All-Stars. As a composer Ivan’s work has been featured in numerous commercial ads in the Central Virginia Area as well as Nationally on PBS. As the music editor for Grown Folks Music, Ivan has written numerous reviews, editorials and conducted interviews with a wide array of artists. During the 1990’s and early 2000’s Ivan was involved with The Music Resource Center in Charlottesville, VA.
