I was born in Czech Republic (then Czechoclovakia). I remember playing with my parents record player and trying to fix a needle on it when I was 5. It was hard to get music from US and England in the 80s because of the communist regime. When revolution came in 89, I was a preteen, we went crazy. MJ, Prince, Madonna, Salt'N"Pepa…..and house music! I joined a dance group in 1991, loved dancing, but it wasn't enough. I learned english thru songs, bought a dictionary and translated all my favorite songs. When Kris Kross came around, I fell in love with them. I wanted to rap! So I braided my hair, put my pants on backwards and learned all their songs. Soon after I convinced my parents to buy me a cheap Yamaha synthesizer and I started writing my own stuff. My friend introduced me to a local DJ and a club owner who was looking into having someone rap while he's mixing songs on friday and saturday nights. I came to the club on a tuesday afternoon, got on the mic, rapped an SWV song in bad english and he gave me the job. Soon after guys from around town and surrounding areas got interested in rapping and we formed a group and started writing and recording in a friend's studio. Released some tapes, a few of them sold around Czech Republic. Hangin' around the DJ booth, I was interested in the technical side of things. So I told the DJ/Club Owner I want to learn. He said why don't I just come by during the day and practice. He explained about turntables, mixer, eq, crowd, lights, bpm matching, effects….. I was practicing almost every day, in 14 days, it was summer of 1994, I finally mixed 2 records together, it was the best feeling. I wanted to dj for people that night!. He let me for about 30 min. And they were dancing, all I wanted to do was DJ! We won Best nightclub in Czech Republic award, I was still in high school and when I graduated, he gave me a job to DJ in the club every night. I always wanted to visit America and thanks to a friend who lived in Czech Republic for a while, I did. A visit turned into a stay. I moved around a lot. First time in the U.S. I landed in L.A., Boise, Dallas, New York, Minneapolis. With all the moving, I took a break from DJing, observed american lifestyle, made friends…. But music was calling, I bought turntables, mixer and started collecting records. Soon after a friend of mine who works at Fujiya in uptown called me and said they were looking for a DJ, I jumped on it, my first gig in MN. From there it was one thing after the next. First Ave friday and saturday nights was my first nightclub gig. Since 2003 I played most venues in Minneapolis and St. Paul, club Berlin in Chicago, parties back in Czech Republic, Opened for Felix Da Housecat, played at Prince's celebrations at Paisley Park and at the Last Jam of 2009. I'm interested in the production side of things, making music and remixing, so I put together a little studio and will see what comes out:)
