Thank you for looking at my profile!
Emancipation Radio was born out of a love for music that extends throughout my entire life. I have slept with the radio on since I heard the Barbara Mandrell song, “Sleeping With the Radio On” - yep – my Mother is a country freak.
I have music on in one fashion or another 24 / 7 and my tastes vary about as greatly as anyone's ever could. From Aerosmith to Air Supply to Akon, from Yanni to Yo Yo Ma, from Prince to Pink Floyd to Pavarotti and everything possible in-between. The only music I really don't like is hard and nasty – you know the type!
Music is a language that needs no words but obviously works well with words as well.
I'm a romantic at heart, and have a soft spot for [good] love songs. To that end – my 3 hour show on emancipation radio is called “Starlitez” and I like to say it's Pillow Talk meets Lover's Lane. It's the love songs that keep us going but in a much sexier, more modern style. Sure, I'll slip some oldies in there once in a while – but some songs are timeless. Starlitez was intended to be a requests and dedications style show so if you'd like to make a request or dedication, please submit it using the form below and I will get it on the air for you [as long as it's within the format!]... I will happily play your requests and dedications on the air, each Saturday from 10p - 1a EST / 7p-10p PST (and is replayed for the west coast after the 2nd broadcast of The Pink Slip with DJ Jill Monroe).
Several people have asked me why I do this... why it's such a passion. I've decided to explain it here for those curious in the future.
I've sung my whole life... my Grandfather was an amazing singer, but sadly he was an alcoholic and he blew any breaks that were gifted to him because of it. I think it's for this reason that my father always gave me a hard time about music. All through school, every time I knew it was time to have him sign a school schedule - I would get anxious - because it was always going to be an argument where choir was concerned. "Good singers are a dime a dozen, take an extra math class!" It was his belief that success was more about who you know vs. what you know... watching his father squander a brilliant talent it's certainly understandable that he'd feel this way. Internet radio is changing a lot of that... we are some of the pioneers of the future of the music industry. We are leveling the playing field. My goal is to get true talent heard by anyone listening!
Peace & Blessingz to you all, and remember, freedom is a beautiful thing!
